Elevon Lavon TX: New Construction Homes With Larger Lots

Lavon sits northeast of Dallas, past the more familiar names like Wylie and Rockwall. It's quieter out here. The land still has room to stretch, and builders are taking advantage of that space with communities that offer lot sizes you won't find closer in. Elevon is one of those new neighborhoods, and K. Hovanian Homes is building here with floor plans that include features like 4-car garages and kitchens designed for how people actually live today.

I toured one of their model homes, and what stood out immediately was the scale. This isn't a home squeezed onto a postage stamp. The lots run 60 to 70 feet wide, which means you're not staring into your neighbor's kitchen window. The garage alone could fit a small workshop, two SUVs, and still have room for storage. If you've been looking at new construction in 2024 and keep running into cramped floor plans or tiny yards, Lavon might be worth the drive.

The trade-off is distance. You're farther from the urban core, and your commute will reflect that. But if you want space, newer infrastructure, and a community that's still building out, this is where builders are putting their energy right now.

Elevon Community: New Construction on Larger Lots

Elevon is one of the up-and-coming neighborhoods in Lavon, and K. Hovanian Homes is the builder here. The lots are 60 to 70 feet wide, which is a selling point if you've been shopping in Frisco or McKinney and noticed how tight everything feels. You get more yard, more driveway, and more breathing room between houses. That extra width shows up in the floor plans too. Garages are bigger. Side yards exist. You're not hearing every conversation through the wall.

The community is new, so you're buying into a neighborhood that's still filling in. That means construction noise, streets that might not all be paved yet, and amenities that could take a year or two to finish. But it also means you're getting current building standards, modern layouts, and the chance to pick finishes if you're early enough in the process.

Lavon itself is growing. It's not a sleepy farm town anymore, but it's not a packed suburb either. You're about 35 to 40 minutes from downtown Dallas in good traffic, longer during rush hour. If your job is in Plano or Allen, the commute is more reasonable. The town has the basics, grocery stores, gas stations, a few restaurants, but you'll still drive to Wylie or Rockwall for most shopping and dining.

Inside the K. Hovanian Model: Kitchen and Garage Layout

The model home I walked through had two features that stood out: the kitchen and the garage. The kitchen is big. Not just an island and some counter space, but a layout that gives you room to cook, entertain, and not trip over people. The island is large enough to seat four or five comfortably, and there's counter space on multiple walls. If you bake, meal prep, or just like having room to spread out, this kitchen works. The finishes in the model were clean and current, neutral tones, modern hardware, and appliances that don't look builder-grade.

The 4-car garage is the other headline. It's massive. You could park four cars, or you could park two and use the rest for a home gym, workshop, or storage. If you've been cramming bikes, tools, and holiday decorations into a two-car garage, this is a different experience. The extra space also means you're not doing a three-point turn every time you need to get the lawnmower out.

The rest of the home followed the same theme: space. Bedrooms were sized for actual furniture, not just a bed and a nightstand. The primary suite had a walk-in closet that could double as a small dressing room. The layout felt designed for how people live now, not how they lived in 2005.

What It's Like Living in Lavon

Lavon is growing, but it's still on the outer edge of the metro. You're trading convenience for space and price. The commute to Dallas is real, expect 35 to 45 minutes on a good day, longer if you're heading into the city during peak hours. If you work in Plano, Allen, or McKinney, you're looking at 20 to 30 minutes, which is more manageable.

The town itself is small. You have a Brookshire's for groceries, a handful of fast-food spots, and not much else. For shopping, dining, and entertainment, you'll drive to Wylie (about 10 minutes) or Rockwall (15 to 20 minutes). That's where you'll find Target, Home Depot, sit-down restaurants, and movie theaters. If you're used to having everything within five minutes, Lavon will feel remote. If you're fine with a 15-minute drive to run errands, it's workable.

The schools are part of the Community ISD, which serves a large rural area northeast of Dallas. The district is growing as new neighborhoods like Elevon bring in more families, but it's not the same as Plano or Frisco. Check current ratings and visit the schools if education is a priority.

What you get in exchange is space, newer homes, and less traffic. The roads aren't packed. The neighborhoods aren't built out yet. You can still find lots with room for a backyard, and the prices reflect the distance from the urban core.

Is Elevon Right for You?

Choose Elevon if you want a new home with a large lot and a floor plan that prioritizes space over proximity. The 60- to 70-foot lots are wider than most new construction closer to Dallas, and the 4-car garage is a feature you won't find in every builder's lineup. If you work from home, or your job is in the northeast suburbs, the commute is less of an issue.

Skip Elevon if you need to be close to the city or you rely on walkable shopping and dining. Lavon is still building out its infrastructure, and you'll drive for most errands. If you're used to urban convenience, this will feel like a compromise.

The community is new, which means you're buying into a neighborhood that's still under construction. That comes with noise, dust, and streets that might not all be finished. But it also means you're getting a home built to current standards, and you might have a say in finishes if you're early in the process.

Conclusion

Elevon in Lavon is where K. Hovanian Homes is building on larger lots with floor plans that give you space to spread out. The 4-car garage, the kitchen layout, and the 60- to 70-foot lots are the main draws. The trade-off is distance. You're farther from Dallas, and you'll drive for most shopping and dining. But if you've been looking at new construction in 2024 and keep running into cramped lots and tight layouts, this is a different option.
